George Bellows - August 12, 1882 - January 8, 1925
The Ashcan artist synonymous with New York City at the turn of the century was actually born in Ohio. It's his gritty paintings of men boxing that made him famous. I love the large bold white and red brushstrokes, stark flesh in movement against the murkness of the dark backgrounds.

Anyone heard of the artist A.E. Bellows? I have some very old prints of his but I can't find any information on him. These prints were framed by a company in Decatur, Ga. by the name of "Upholsterers of Fine Furniture. Of course no longer in existance. Anyone know anything
